My Favorite Fictional Universes: Introduction

My Favorite Fictional Universes: Introduction

Since we first became a civilized society, humans have been fascinated with creating the fictional. Whether it be Herman Melville writing the novel Moby Dick in the 1800s or Stanley Kubrick directing 2001: A Space Odyssey in the 1900s, creators love to make their own realities.

And audiences and readers alike flock to these creations, seek to escape into these fictional worlds. I believe it is due to a basic human need to take a break from reality. The real world can be an overwhelming place at times.

I have always been the type of person who has a love for big, interconnected universes in fiction. I love creators who take the time to craft intricate worlds and mythologies behind the story, as it helps to add some great depth and weight to what they have made.

In my eyes, the intricate tapestries some of these media architects weave are beautiful. I attribute my fascination with the fictional to my need for solace when the world feels too overpowering.

I have always connected deeply to these stories, as it feels like I am taking a step into an entirely new world. All of these creations have blown me away with the detailed lore they have fabricated.

These architects have done something incredible: they have crafted their own universe. Whether they be fictional or not, I think that is something to be heralded. Not many individuals can say they have achieved that.

I have gathered many of my favorite fictional universes (so far), in the hopes that I can introduce you to exciting new worlds to explore and learn about. At the very least, I hope that you can get a sense of the impact they have all had on me.

This introductory blog post is but a precursor of what’s to come, the first in a series if you shall. In the following months, I will make posts about all the fictional worlds I have come to adore.

Subscribe to my blog to learn more, and read about my favorite universes! Maybe I will introduce you to a new property you will come to love as well!
